Real Tanning Bed Risks

Author: Tim Gorman

Tanning beds can be a great way to keep you looking good, but there are increasing worries over tanning bed risks and the dangers of over exposure to UV rays and other possible harmful effects that could be brought about by their overuse. Although many people see tanning beds as a safer alternative to sunbathing the truth is in some cases the output from a tanning bed can be much higher than that which you would get from normal sunbathing. The eyes too can be damaged by over exposure to a tanning bed. It is always very important to have the right goggles to protect your eyes whenever you are using one of these beds, as they can cause serious damage to your eyes if not worn.

The tanning treatment that is supposed to make us look healthy can also lead to premature aging of the skin and may also cause wrinkles to appear. Although this can be unpleasant, it is not the main thing that health authorities have been concerned about. The most troublesome of all the tanning bed risks is that of developing skin cancer. This is causing increasing amounts of concern as the use of tanning beds continues to rise and some health authorities have been calling for more information to be made available about tanning bed risks and the possibility of a link to some types pf skin cancer.

One way to limit the possible tanning bed risks to yourself is to follow the manufacturers advice about the amount of time that you should use them for and make sure that you do not exceed that recommended time limit. You should also make ensure that you use a good quality tanning bed lotion that gives you a good degree of protection against the harmful effects of the UVA's that are made by the tanning bed lamps and lights.

If you follow the correct recommendations and doctors advice, only use tanning beds for the right amount of time and use the correct tanning lotions to protect your skin then you will be putting yourself at much less risk by avoiding any possibility of overexposure. The tanning bed risks can be greatly reduced by being sensible and not overusing them. If you are at all worried, it may be a good idea to talk to your local doctor to see if they can give you any advice on whether you should use a tanning bed and what would be sensible for your skin type.
